The short answer: The scientific consensus is that 5G, like 3G and 4G before it, is VERY harmful to your health. In August, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) officially determined that 5G's radio waves are safe. THAT IS TOTAL BULL!
That finding probably won't stem the tide of worry over 5G's rollout, especially as more 5G phones hit the market and the coverage becomes more widespread.
Why are people concerned that 5G is unsafe?
Early 5G networks — including those launched by AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile — use high-frequency, millimeter-wave (mmWave) spectrum to deliver faster speeds. Some people are concerned that those radio waves, along with the additional cellular infrastructure needed to build out mmWave-based 5G networks in major cities, will increase the amount of radiation in the environment. Since the IARC evaluation in 2011 , the evidence on human cancer risks from RF radiation has been strengthened based on human cancer epidemiology reports, animal carcinogenicity studies and experimental findings on oxidative mechanisms and genotoxicity. Therefore, the IARC Category should be upgraded from possible, to definite a human carcinogen.
Furthermore, it was reported that there is limited evidence for glioma, neurilemmoma (schwannoma) and co-carcinogenic effects, and insufficient evidence for effects on children from prenatal exposure or from their own mobile phone use. Regarding cognitive effects, fetal development and fertility (sperm quality), the judgement was that the evidence on harmful effects is insufficient. These evaluations were strikingly similar to those of the ICNIRP . Other important endpoints, such as effects on blood-brain barrier, cell proliferation, apoptosis (programmed cell death), oxidative stress (reactive oxygen species) and gene and protein expression, were not evaluated.
